Out of the box: learn to build good-looking science graphics
The aim of the course is to train PhD students how to create and edit high-quality illustration materials for their scientific articles. In the course of training, PhD students will learn:
- what types of scientific illustrations exist and what their purpose is;
- how to compose different elements of the figures;
- what fonts to use;
- how to combine colors;
- how to emphasize the most important information
The knowledge acquired will enable PhD students to create professional figures that inspire confidence to the readership and make the perception of data easy to read. Practical activities include both class work and individual projects. During the hands-on activities, PhD students will learn tips and tricks on how to quickly and easily format the graphical elements of their figures and how to export them as a proper file formats.
